I'm going to assume you're telling the truth, mainly because I can't imagine anyone would (or could) make that up. And I'm very sorry you had to go through that and glad you found your way out.

However, I'm afraid the situation vis a vis racism isn't resolved or that people can "no longer tell," despite what you may think. People don't discriminate based on genealogy they can't see, they do so based on appearance. In the end, that was "race" is, topical differences that mean nothing.

And people are still advantaged or disadvantaged based on this color scheme. If you appear white, regardless of whatever traces of non-white ancestry you have in your past, you are viewed and treated differently because people who look like you have a

disproportionate amount of the power and wealth.

The same holds of true of gender and gender-based discrimination. If you are a woman, you can expect lower outcomes, less respect, and more assumptions than a male colleague. If you are a woman of color, you're fighting both battles.

I'm sorry for making any assumptions about your level of privilege in life. But you said, flat out, that there was "no evidence" of this kind of racial or gender-based discrimination. That is classic assumption made by privileged people because they are ignorant of it, mainly because they don't have to deal with it.

Worse, they may claim it doesn't exist when presented with evidence of it, mainly because they don't want to admit they had it easier than others and enjoy privileges they didn't earn.

If you'd said "I haven't witnessed any," I wouldn't have chimed in. I hope you're not mortally offended because this is a discussion I consider worth continuing.
