That is fundamentally untrue. Conspiracy theories come down to one thing: the belief that people are out there manipulating things to sell you on a lie. By nature, they cannot be proven either way, usually because the theorists claims there's a "cover up."

Also, you're "both sides" and "whatabout the left" are clear indications you feel targeted by this article, hence your reaction. And you've added the "fake news" angle as an attempt at rationalizing this! How can you possibly criticize the author for doing something you are doing right now?

And therein lies the point! Conspiracy theories have nothing to do with "opposing views," they have everything to do with proof. If you believe in something without evidence and can't back it up, it's merely a theory. If there are conspirators involved, it's a conspiracy theory. No amount of sophistry can change that.
