Keep in mind, the critics are claiming that the astrogeological community is saying the object wasn't interstellar (NASA confirmed it was), and that Loeb is claiming the spherules are from the object (he hasn't said anything either way). It's not dissimilar to statements claiming he said 'Oumuamua was aliens, when he actually suggested the possibility.
