The Azov Battalion was made up of Russian-speaking Ukrainians in the Donbas fighting the separatists, who played nothing more than a peripheral role in the fighting. It is true that there were reports of crimes committed, but most claims were made up by Russia and were exposed as hoaxes, with some actually committed by GRU members.

The exact same is true of the Revolution of Dignity (what you call the Maidan Coup). They and other right-wing groups were never more than operating at the periphery, but Moscow likes to pretend it was all them, with U.S. backing.

The fact is, the U.S. had ZERO involvement in the overthrow of Yanukovych. He was revealed of all his powers by his own government because he was a Russian puppet who clung to power through corruption and rigged elections. The mass protests against him went all the way back to the mid-2000s.
The protests he was crushing (at Putin's direction) demanded EU membership. Like most Ukrainians, they wanted open elections and closer ties to Europe, NOT to remain in Russia's orbit, which is what Yanukovych was forcing them into.
The entire "de-Nazification" line is a joke! Here again, another excuse for the invasion, no different than Hitler's claims that the Sudeten Germans were being oppressed by Czechoslovakia.

As for seizing Crimea, no, you don't know any of that. You believe that, because that's what Putin told the world. And you said it yourself, it was previously a part of the Soviet Union and had not been since 1991! Putin seized the peninsula for the same reason he financed seperatist wars and invaded - if he can't control Ukraine indirectly, he will control it directly.
The referendum WAS rigged, with Wagner mercenaries who occupied the region were running the polling centers and were even allowed to vote! Foreign observers were forbidden, except for right-wing nationalist groups hand-picked by Russia because Putin is buddies with them (speaking of Nazis!)
The Donbas referendum was even worse! The entire process consisted of Russian soldiers going door to door in occupied regions telling people where to sign, often at gunpoint. Some people were forbidden from voting and only households (not individuals) were allowed! They wanted to join Russia? Try again!

I am interesting in different points of view and seek them out regularly. But all I'm seeing here and on Medium in general is people regurgitating well-crafted lies told by Moscow and Putin himself. Many of them are clearly fake accounts as well, which you can see if you do any digging at all.
