So God speaks to people who aren't dogmatic? I like the idea! I have always wanted to find a poetic way to say how the priests are never the prophets. Their servile minds are never blessed with revelation, that is a privilege reserved for the rebels and rule-breakers.

However, this strikes me as a "preserve the idea by ditching the institution." Prophets are basically individual thinkers, not conformists. This put them at odds with religious institutions (conformist and authoritarian by their very nature).

So many people have asserted that they were spoken to by God and cast off the strictures of religious institutions to found their own faiths. All they were doing was establishing their own shop to lord over people.
