That's interesting, because Canadian immigration minister (and notorious antisemite) Frederick Charles Blair made similar statements about why he refused to allow Jewish refugees into Canada during the 1930s. He said, and I quote, "If they would divest themselves of certain of their habits I am sure they could be just as popular in Canada as our Scandinavians."
