That’s just it. Putin is a megalomaniac who has managed to keep Russians in his thrall for decades. He is a totalitarian who has convinced the greater percentage of his people that he alone can rule and protect them. And he did so by murdering his own people. Removing him does not mean that someone equally bad will take his place. He is the central piece in an architecture of oppression and regression. Remove him, and it comes crashing down and his cowardly cronies will be scrambling to pick up the pieces.
