This a bold and (imho) dubious claim. All too often, people trying to push an agenda make this claim. "I used to believe (insert mistaken belief here), but now I'm firmly on the other side."

Case in point, someone pushing a religious agenda who (falsely) claims they were once an atheist. People who experienced a "come to Jesus" moment are (in my experience) tempted to misrepresent their past beliefs.
