Yes, but it would have been a "victor's trial," much like what the Nazis convicted at Nuremberg hypocritically complained about. Japan had murdered over 20 million Chinese between 1936 and 1945, the vast vast majority of which were civilians. The use of chemical and biological weapons was recorded, as were human experiments in occupied territories.

Then there's the millions of Filipinos, Indonesians, and other populations they indiscriminately killed as they pillaged their way across South East Asia. Japan was in no position to accuse anyone of "war crimes."
